## Why it matters

More than 60% of searches happen on mobile devices. Google uses mobile-first indexing, meaning the mobile version of the page is primary for evaluation and ranking.

## In practice

Google retired its Mobile-Friendly Test in 2023; today you can check mobile-friendliness with Lighthouse in Chrome DevTools. Pages that are not mobile-friendly lose positions in mobile search results. Responsive design is today's standard, and frameworks like Bootstrap and Tailwind CSS make it much easier.

## How be1st checks it

Checks basic signs of mobile-friendliness. The check looks for a viewport tag, media queries for screen width (min-width, max-width) and responsive images (srcset or picture). One sign is enough to pass, two or more give the full score.

Every check ends as: Pass, Warning, Fail.
